8th graders in the leadership corps are excited for the conference after LAUNCH. They seem informed on activities during the conference and are very open to the new experience. Writing a bill seems like the crowd favorite among leadership corps students. “I think it’s going to be fun and educational along with hanging out with friends, and it gets more serious when you get older, but writing the bill and explaining why we wrote the bill sounds the most fun,” said Katelyn Cadotte from the Carlton delegation.

There are a diverse amount of bill ideas ranging from structural changes to things as small as more recess. They show the interests of the delegates, making the time at Youth in Government way more memorable. “[I look forward to] talking about bills. I want the bill to have something to do about animals and U.S shelters,” said Amelia McCarthy from Carlton delegation. Medical concern is typically the most prominent problem dealt with at the conference, but much attention is still directed towards additional matters that delegates feel should be emphasized on.

8th graders definitely look forward to the conference. They said LAUNCH helped them grasp the idea about how it would be, making them want to try out Youth In Government even more. Along with the help of supervisors and staff who recommended this program to these delegates, these delegates have enough confidence to pursue this program.

“[I look forward to] Seeing other people and their opinions on certain topics. And joining Youth In Government to get a good experience,” said Jordan Berry from Lakeville delegation.
